As gsc999 said peoples here mostly know about "Employment Based GC" not much about "Family Based GC" .... Still few questions if we can guide you to the right place...

    a) What is your current Immigration Status ?
    b) Do you have SSN ?
    c) Forget about he goes to Jail/not is it impossible to get your "Marriage Certified" or at least put the Application before March 31st ? You have almost 51 days ...Based on that a lawyer can guide you but if you dont have a Marriage Certficate no one can really help... You know !

    d) Lets the Justice system decide he goes to Jail or not but if unfortunately he is convicted and goes to Jail for 18 months do you want to live/continue your marriage with him after he comes out ?

    e) Based on Marriage with US Citizen they give you "conditional GC" - and they would verify after 2-3 years if your marriage is a "Bonafide Marriage" etc... and then only give you a "unconditional GC"

That's why you will see those fake "immigration marriage" start giving problem after 2-3 years and end up in mutual Divorce. Be cautious about converting you GC to a regular "unconditional GC" .

    Good Luck !

    thank you....so much

You already goofed with Independence day of India..Now you are eyeing on Geeta...!!

    Oh man, I am enjoying...!!!

Didn't you earn all the dollars in this country? Then where is the pain man? Remember Geeta --- Jo liye Yehin pe liye, Jo diya yahin pe diya (Whatever I got I got here, Whatever I gave, I gave here)....so think that and write checks to Lawyer, Doctor, USCIS. I hope Geeta will reduce your pain.

    Hi:

Why and how do members get those green and red squares when they post messages? I do know red squares are bad since a mouseover shows the text that the member has had some bad behavior. However, I have seen various texts for green squares. Mine says "I'm on a distinguised road"...I had no idea I was on one, but I sure do hope it ends with a Green Card in hand! :)

Anyway, does anyone know all the different variations of text for green and red squares and how do they change for different members?

    Thanks,
    Jayant

Steven brings up a good point about those camera phones. I fear them to a degree. Someone told me recently that they had read/heard advice that when you're using a credit card at a store make sure you keep the numbers covered up. Apparently, people with camera phones have been known to take a picture of your card to get the numbers and expiration date.
    Gary
Yeah, saw that on the news, too. My card has a hologram over the last 4 digits which should help foil (oooh, bad pun) this type of thing. Heck unless the light's just right I can't always read it. :)

I did hear one report where they got a robber's license plate from someone's cam-phone, so there's a good aspect to them, too.

When it comes to immigration matters, my mantra is safe than sorry. I would still make the trip to the CBP office and get a date noted on the I-94. This way if you want to extend their stay, etc you will be covered.

I second that statement. Moreover, this gives you the peace of mind knowing that somebody at CBP won't screw up entering the I-94 info when your parents surrender this at the airline or give a hard time for a lack of date on the I-94 when your parents want to travel again.

I had a doctor's appointment today and my doc asked if I had read this article: Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior - WSJ.com (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704111504576059713528698754.html) and if I agreed with the author (coming from an asian/indian family)

    What do you think?

Has it anything to do with immigration??

It will only start a fight between members on parenting style.. and a bitter fight at that.

If u like the article you are free to raise your children like that.

Read this to know what your children will think of you when they grow up ...

Why take chances ? Be safer than being sorry later.
Take some leave (paid or unpaid) - get it stamped over there + meet your loved ones. You'll have a peace of mind at the cost of couple thousand dollars.

    "my" suggestion.

Sorry to have to say this but they will probably reject your application. Signature is the most important thing they look for in any application.

    Not entirely true..

Some employees of my client company who filed their AOS in june did so without signing a single piece of paper and already got their RNs and FP's done as well.

There are a few things to see if what your lawyer did was correct:

    1) Did he ask you to write him/her an email/letter authorizing them to sign on your behalf

    2) Your company has your facsimile signatures or signature stamps.

you could try getting a letter from university that you had completed all the requirements for your degree in 2000 but your degree was formally awarded in 2002

    immi_seeker,
That was a nice idea, but I won't get a letter from university saying that the degree requirements are completed in 2000. Also, the transcripts for one supplementary exam (in 2002) may speak against us. Do you think there's a chance? Please reply

I am not sure if we are still updating the document to cite more examples. If so one another good candidate: Jeong H. Kim, President of Bell Laboratories. One of the most influential Asian American Technologist/Enterpreuner. http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/kim1bio-1
    http://www.lucent.com/corpinfo/bios/kim.html

I am sure we can give many more examples (I can think of a few immediately in my area, Pradeep Sandhu founder of Juniper which employes thousands now; Desh Deshpande who co-founded Cascade/Sycamore etc; Hassan Mohammad, CEO of Sonus; Arun Netravali, former president of Bell Labs; Krish Prabhu, CEO of Telllabs etc.etc.etc.etc.)

this number has been thrown around a lot
per uscis as of July 27 they had 75K pieces of mail
so maybe 125K applications including families.
this will increase a bit, so let's say 175K or 200K
    still quite different from 700K

It all depends upon the school. You just need to show them that your 485 is pending and you have AP with you, you have used it or not does not matter. But the most important thing is to convince the school. One of the senior members, had posted their own experience and it has helped me a lot to get the FAFSA approved for my spouse. Let me know if you have any questions. I will also try to find that thread.

09/22/2008: USCIS Ombudsman Assistance Available for EAD Delay Cases

If your EAD applications are pending more than 90 days and you need ombudsman's assistance, the following steps should be take:
Step 1: Call USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-(800) 375-5283 and record the time/date of the call and the name/number of the customer service representative: Explain to the customer service representative that your EAD has been pending more than 90 days and ask for a service request. You should receive a response to your service request within a week.
OR Ask the customer service representative to request an interim card for you. You should receive an EAD or response within a week.
Step 2: If you choose to visit a local USCIS office, schedule an INFOPASS appointment to visit that office on www.infopass.uscis.gov. At the appointment, ask to apply for an interim EAD. Note that USCIS local offices no longer issue interim EADs. The local office can review your case and determine eligibility. The local office will forward your request to the USCIS service centers. You should receive an EAD or response within a week.
Step 3: If you have tried both Step 1 and Step 2 and have still not received your EAD or an interim card, please email the ombudsman's office at cisombudsman.publicaffairs@dhs.gov with the details of your efforts. Please include the date and time of your call to the NCSC and the name of the customer service representative. If you visited a USCIS office, please provide that information. The office will look into your case and review how we may be of assistance.

I have used for all of H1B and also for complete Green Card Processing. If it is just anything after I-140; they charge about $600 rest of the processing.
You always get a response within a day from its director John Dorer.
You can reach them at info@usavisanow.com

Can I have some recommendations for good attorney?
