Could elaborate why you say this is about I140? I couldnt derive that from the posting. Anyhow this whole this is utter nonsense from the immigration department. I dont think there will be any action, period.
The whole thing is written as if June 2007 happened by mistake, I dont buy that.
If publisher understand meaning of Petition vs Application then I 140 is petition which can be approved or denied and doesnot need adjuction. While I 485 is a visa application by individual which can be adjucted if visas are available and petition has been approved.
But here they are talking both words in same sentence. It could be they approved 75k I 140 and adjucted those many 485s. and their goal to have only 55k I 140 on hand.
Still they can approve 65k I 485 from pending backlog. ( 75 + 65 = 140k ). So my understanding is from previous backlog they approved 75k I 140 + I 485. Still 65k visas are left . if these many visas are left then I dont think dates for Eb2 india will go near to 2005.

I believe that @GCFrenzy your suggestions are good. For any business visa it is definitely a basic requirement to have a letter stating all the information that you are mentioning. I had also worked for a large Indian company and my first visit to US was on B1 this was immediately after 9/11 and the client gave a very similar letter in those days however you did not go to the consulate for stamping. Also if the company can state the duration of the trip and substantiate with a return ticket the chances of approval will be much higher the duration should be less than 5-6 weeks. Issuing visa is always in good faith and at the discretion of the VO. @Nathan I think it would not be correct to generalize even though what you are saying is correct because many genuine people are affected due to the collateral a damage. Think of this many people when they applied for F1 also stated in good faith that they will return to their home countries after their studies but most of them are still here and many of them on immigration forums :).
I am not aginst the OP or generalizing the B1 abuse. I am stating my opinion of what could be the reason behind the denial. You know, now a days even people are getting 221g for the H4 stamping. It does not matter what visa you are going for, the US consulates just looking for a execuse to reject. Not only in India, there are lot of people getting 221g in Canada, and got stuck up there.

cool_guy_onnet1: I assume you have not applied AOS (485) for your wife. You will not be able to do it until the PD become current. You should maintain your H1 status, so find a new H1 sponsoring employer and transfer your H1. Do not use your EAD/AP, it will void your H1 status and you guys will have to stay apart.

She should go on h4. If she wants her ead she can file once you get AOS receipt No. unless u alreaqy filed for it. If u already filed for her ead you should still wait for her to quit her h1 job till the ead comes through.

I agree that every single job loss matters and I support keeping jobs here where possible - unless essential.
Interestingly, jobs lost due to outsourcing are far less than other factors. Here is some interesting survey link:

The reason I posted it here is because the anti-immigrant lobby also views immigrants as supporters of outsourcing - which is not true because we look wholistically from an economic perspective. For instance my son has graduated college and now working, paying taxes and contributing to the US economy. And I am sure that most of you here who have college age kids are sending them to colleges and sometimes even paying out-of-state tuition to boot.

Ok! God help me here.... My lawyer responded this morning that h4 is valid even after using EAD. EAD is only a benefit.

We are targeting to get a 1000 letters signed and sent to the White House from our group. We need volunteers to print letter templates, get envelopes/stamps and most importantly bring family, friends and colleagues to this event. Please see below for details about the Venue.

Basically, you get 1 credit for a quarter of year, so 4 credits a year. If you have lived and worked 8 full years and 6 months for the year when you came and 6 months the year you depart from the country, you will,be fine. Also one strange thing observed was that I have a receipt # SRC07264**** and my wife's case has a receipt # SRC07266****. Also we received the receipt notices 2 days apart.

If you have filed for I-485 and you have your receipt # (starting with LIN) and you have a copy of the encashed check or the proof of the financial transaction (could be you, your employer or lawyer) and the online status says I-485 Adjustment of Status pending, then you have nothing to worry about. If you had moved or changed your address it may have been misplaced. But you have nothing to worry about if the checks are cashed and you have the Receipt #.
