My company is surplussing me among other employees to be laid off around Apr 2009.

Labor and I-140 approved
I-485 filed during Jun-Jul 2007 rush, FP done, waiting for PD to become current
Right now I am working on H1-B extension, and to make things complicated, I got married in Jul 2008 and brought spouse on H4.

As you did not apply for 485 for your wife, she has to be on h4. You have enough time to get a job and file for h1b transfer and use ac21. Start looking for jobs and make your move once you get the job.

Hi,
When I go online to get the visa appointment for parents I'm not able to get a date and this has been going since 25 days(It asks to check back in 24 hours)
They changed the visa fee this year (2008).
The message on the vfs site says all those with HDFC receipt# obtained last year should try and get visa appointment before Jan/31/08.
What can I do now?
There is also no way I can put my name in the signature box while filling the application.(When the application is filled by someone not parents themselves they ask for siganture of the person filling the application )

Same issue with me.
Different A# on I 140 and the I 485 receipt notice. The A# on the FP notice is the same as the I 485 receipt notice.
I have emailed the paralegal handling my case and she said she'll confirm with the lawyer and get back to me.
BTW my I 140 A# starts with 088 and the I 485 receipt notice starts with 094.
Don't know what that means.
Will keep you guys updated with whatever my lawyer sends me back.

First they need to cope with the scores of petetions, USCIS and FBI.
For how long will they work overtime to resolve this mess? such bouts as the one we saw in the last two weeks of june are short and few. If they are smart they will flush out the approvable cases early without going thru the EAD cycles year after year.
This is exactly opposite to what they have been doing. If there were 60k approvable cases, i wonder what they were doing all this time. Approving those cases earlier wud have allowed others to get in the system earlier.
Additional VISA numbers may not help anybody, if they don't use them properly
Hopefully things will get better from now onwards?? ;) Maybe the july VB being current was a sign that things in the future will be bright. We can just hope, be positive and support IV in its efforts. :)

First of consult some American Lawyer who is close to labor law , because even lawyers act at times with some point of interest , which need not be yours . There is no such thing as a "bond" in US ( Unless you are on L1 ) so to BOMK , you are fine.

Plus, H1B is debated and decided upon (pro-H1B's are quite happy as-is), EB has not been debated at all.
And when they vote, they may delete the H1B from the cap-removal and retain the GC, which will be just fine for us. We should support this amendment. It might go through after some changes.

I would like to make most of the form thread details be accessible to members who had paid at least $100 or enrolled for recursive $20/month. We should make the thread heading very attractive and make it accessible to public. Core members should review all the thread headings, I think they are already doing it now. I can volunteer to this activity. I do have 8 years of experience in studying US immigration law, though I am not a lawyer, with my experience I can be of some guidance.

Provide advertisement (Ad), like we see top, right side and bottom page Ad in hotmail, yahoo etc. Apart from the flash, images Ads, we should also do Google text Ads. Flash Ad could be charged based on the space, number of page hits. Google pays 25 cents per click on the hyperlink for the text Ad. I had managed a project, which implemented the feature. I am sure we have lot of technical experts and get this implemented, very well.
Corporate Sponsorship
If a corporation sponsors money then most probably there will be some tax advantage. I do know IV�s tax code. Consulting companies could pay IV from our company account.
Physicians
We can identify all our physician members and provide help for members and their parents in need. In turn the members who had taken help could contribute to IV�s good cause, in terms of funds, taking part in activities, etc. Hi the concept is very simple, if you had gone to a doctor, you will end up spending 2 hr waiting to see the doctor and then pay 150 to talk to them for 15 min. We will help you and intern you help us, or may be help yourself if you are a person going through the GC process. I can take initiative for this task, my wife is a physician and I know 20 other doctors who are in the GC process.

my attorney said When you interfile, even if ur previous PD is current, you cannot file 140+485 together..
you have to first file the 140 requesting the previous PD be ported and then once that is approved..file you 485..!!
but he said....if ur PD is current you can take a chance and file both 140(requesting porting)+485 ..but then the chances of 485 being sent back are high..

You cannot port your I-140 to the new company. So, your H1B will also get affected as it extn is based on the underlying I-140. The only way you can accomplish moving to company B is by filing for I-485 while still at Company A (if your dates are current), wait for 6 months and then, use the AC21 provision.
This is just my view. There might be better ways but, that is the only one I can think right now.

I did not want to start a new thread for this. But I had earlier last month contacted many senators with the official I-485 pending inventory as proof and asking them whether it was humane, ethical and moral to ask someone wait more than 15 years for a green card! And what they are doing to remedy the situation.
This is the reply I received today from Sen. Frank Lautenberg. May be this is very standard format, I am not sure but it does mention specific bill and recapture provision.
