Can you take the job to give us an update on the total amount pledged so far, at certain points in between the thread , as it grows ?
Zoooom thanks for doing this. Anzerraja good work. You two work good as a team.
Twicetwice & Anzerraja, your generous pledge has inspired me to pledge $100 for now, more later.
We should merge all other threads dealing with this issue over here for convenience

They are not going to do what you tell them, 5 year is just an example, people are waiting for 9 years. I say 5 becaue even ROW is 2 year back, so asking 2 would be like take it off...
Mirage,
I completely agree with you. I was just trying to get a point across some of the members who just like to shoot down proposals.

Guys,
Just finished sending the emails. It was very simple and the email from LogicLife was good one...
Used the autofill option and it was really very easy to do that...
Wish good luck and successful efforts to all.....

Your Comment on H2B is only right about H2B and doesn't apply on EB green cards. We are people who came on H1B & our Green Cards were sponsored by US employers, we have our Labor & I-140 approved and we are waiting for Visa number assigned to our applications. So you could be comparing apples to peaches...Immigration policies had been hostile in past 12 years and will continue to be same indefinitely...Now our choice is sit back, lie low, keep watching & read Visa predictions indefinitely- may be another decade or 2- or take some steps, which I think, are not going to face much opposition. Also regarding reason behind so many Indians is, that 200K H1B between 1999 and 2002. Even if visa cap is lifted for 2 years that big hump will be crossed, it may smoothen the Visa allocations for Indians.

GC must be FIFO based only i.e PD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Action item for IV, besides visa recapturing etc. Its one of the items they
should add to there agenda. ----------------------------------------------
aside from 1)increasing numerical caps,
2)reducing processing delays,
3)eliminating per country limits,
4)eliminiting career stagnation rules,
5)aside from visa recapturing,
6)aside from not wasting visas,
7)aside from eliminating name-check backlogs..,
8) aside from allocating one visa per family as opposed to one visa per person---.----you want them to change their internal system as well!
I understand the entire system needs an overhaul, but it would be great if IV acheives even one of the above agendas....

Problem was ours (EB2 & EB3) and we fought together until EB2&EB3 dates were retrogressed. Now the problem is only for EB3s so EB3s only have to come forward and work for ourselves. Thank you Sir...
No, you are twisting what I said. My point is, if you are not willing to help yourself, why do you expect people who are going to be current in a year or so to chip in? You can start helping yourself by becoming a regular donor to IV. That's $25 a month. Imagine 11,000 odd EB people becoming regular donors. Maybe, IV can then run a regular ad in major news network, explaining our plight.
What I am saying is we(EB2&3) will fight together and you are saying that It's your problem and you(EB3) have to work for yourself. So do we have to start a new community called eb3immigrationvoice?
I never said EB3 will have to fight it alone. All I said is, 90% of EB3 folks stuck in the rot of backlog want someone else to take the lead and do it.
Again, please do not twist what I said. I rest my case.

Exactly... there is no such thing as LOW HANGING BALLS.... they shuld be fair to everyone... this is just a case of discrimination... first make all these useless categoreis... EB-1, eb2 blah blah..... i mean cummon who the fuck are they to decide how important my work is.... or under what category it falls... i thought the americans considered all work equal.. and respected everyone... well that was my impression before coming here... anyways.... so much fucking hipocrisy....
Ok people, the *F* bomb is being thrown about a LITTLE too much here.

I did not want to respond you but here's what can be achieved by lifting the country caps even for 2 years. If you lift the country cap, oldest PDs get the green Cards irrespective of their country, considering it's Indians & Chinese who are stuck the most, believe it or not, India will get all of 140K Visas, you can easily expect India and china to come at par with ROW, I know with your intelligence level, it is hard for you to understand, but if you are in a line, you are always going to get benefited if more people before you get eliminated fom the queue...
dude,
you may want to think twice before questioning kunju's intelligence level.
he is just awesome, but in the other direction! :D

Thanks Zooom, for starting this thread. I've mentioned about IV Core's selfless service in our 'Thanks' thread couple of days ago but didn't know about the magnitude. $64k is helluva money and its just not right coming from one pocket to favor thousands of others. Aman and other core, day by day you raise above and beyond our imaginations as a leader and guide. We assure you that you will not pay another single dime from your pocket.
I pledge $100 to Reimburse the core team now and more later.
And I am sure with the kind of response we have been getting it won't be hard to raise a significant amount....

Paper filed at TSC on May 22, 2008
Service center: TSC
Last LUD on May 29
No updates since.
Currently working on EAD and exires in Sept 2008
----------------
Just called the service center and reply I got back was weird. Apparently their case status viewing system is down and will not be up and running for another 1 week. So, no info as of now and call back in 1 week :(

It depends on amendments. If there is no one, just after the president's signature. But the good thing about 90 days is, they can add/update things behind the seen.

This may be the *best advice*, imo.
Most "youngsters" (makes me feel really old now.. doesn't it.. ) visiting the U.S. for business/work/education seem to have no plans of residing in this country permanently. Most I've talked to in the past year or two are keen on returning home, or somewhere else.
Particularly true in case of India, imo.
jazz
Like many others on these forums, I have given up significant opportunities because I believed mistakenly that the GC mess would be cleared up in 2-3 years. Sometimes that does lead to extreme frustration - My wife often jokes that when I do actually receive my GC, I will have lost a very convenient excuse that the lack of one is holding me back. :-)
To those who are starting down this path, I have this piece of unsolicited advice. If you feel that you are depressed and this is affecting your health and/or your family, it may be best to move on - the world is a big place, full of opportunity; opportunities that cannot be quantified by an O*NET job code. Enjoy everyday while you can - you only live once.
